Lagos ports are currently witnessing increased maritime activity as multiple vessels laden with petroleum products, food commodities, and industrial raw materials continue to arrive and discharge at various terminals.

According to the latest Shipping Position released by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), no fewer than 12 vessels have already berthed at the Apapa, Tincan Island, and Lekki Deep Sea Port terminals in Lagos, where they are awaiting discharge operations.

The ships are carrying a wide range of cargo, including petrol, gasoline, crude oil, fuel oil, base oil, bulk fertiliser, and bulk urea—reflecting ongoing import activity across energy and agricultural supply chains.

In addition to the vessels already in port, the NPA report indicated that 34 more ships are expected to arrive between May 7 and May 15 at the Apapa, Lekki, and Tincan Island ports. These incoming vessels are laden with diverse cargoes such as buckwheat, bulk wheat, containers, fresh fish, crude oil, bitumen, base oil, diesel, aviation fuel, general cargo, and bulk sugar.

Meanwhile, port operations remain active, with about 26 ships currently discharging various consignments. These include containers, petrol, aviation fuel, crude oil, bulk gypsum, bulk gas, bulk wheat, bulk urea, cargo trucks, and fresh fish.

The steady flow of vessels highlights sustained import demand across key sectors, particularly energy, food supply, and industrial manufacturing inputs, as port operations continue across Lagos’ major maritime terminals.
