The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the arrival of 36 vessels carrying a wide range of cargoes, including petroleum products, food items, and general goods, at key Lagos ports.

According to the Authority’s Daily Shipping Position, the vessels are expected to arrive at the Apapa Port Complex, Lekki Deep Sea Port, and Tin Can Island Port between May 5 and May 10.
Cargo Breakdown
Of the 36 expected vessels:
15 ships are carrying containers filled with various goods.
21 ships are loaded with bulk and liquid cargoes, including:
Fresh fish
General cargo
Aviation fuel
Bulk wheat
Base oil
Diesel
Gasoline (petrol)
Crude oil
The NPA also disclosed that 11 ships and tanker vessels have already arrived at the ports and are currently awaiting berthing. These include consignments of:
Containers
Bulk urea and fertiliser
Petrol and fuel oil
Bulk gas
Fresh fish
Trucks
Diesel
In addition, 24 vessels are presently discharging cargoes across the three major Lagos ports. These operations include the handling of bulk agricultural inputs, energy products, and consumer goods such as aviation fuel, wheat, and fertilisers.
Port Operations in Full Swing
The steady flow of vessels underscores ongoing high trade activity through Lagos ports, which remain Nigeria’s busiest maritime gateways.
The mix of imports reflects strong demand for both industrial inputs and essential commodities, particularly energy products and food-related cargo.
Port operations at Apapa, Tin Can Island, and Lekki Deep Sea Port continue to handle simultaneous berthing and discharge activities as shipping traffic remains robust.
