Minister of State for Defence and immediate-past Governor of Zamfara State,  H.E. Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle has commended the Nigerian Military for restoring normalcy in Zamfara and other States.
The improving security situation in Zamfara State, according to Aliyu Abdullahi, a public affairs analyst, enabled over 50,000 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to troop out to warmly welcome him to the State.
The enthusiastic reception underscores the growing confidence among the populace as the security landscape continues to transform positively.
During this festive period, the Minister made a conscious decision to travel by road, rather than opting for air travel. This choice was not merely symbolic; it served to boost the morale of the dedicated soldiers stationed along the route, who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of motorists and residents alike. The military’s presence, with checkpoints established every four kilometers, has significantly enhanced security and instilled a sense of safety among the people.
Reports indicate that the incidence of kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region are gradually becoming a thing of the past, thanks to the swift and effective response of the Nigerian security forces. The Honourable Minister’s road trip is a testament to the improved conditions, allowing citizens to travel far and wide without fear. This newfound freedom of movement is a clear indication that the collective efforts of the military and local communities are bearing fruit.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian military for their relentless commitment towards restoring peace and security in Zamfara and neighboring states. He emphasized that the ongoing operations have not only curtailed criminal activities but have also fostered a renewed sense of hope and stability among the residents.
“As we celebrate this progress, it is essential to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our armed forces. Their bravery and dedication are pivotal in ensuring that Zamfara State continues to move towards a future characterized by safety, prosperity, and unity,” he said.
The Honourable Minister reiterated his commitment to supporting the military in their endeavors to maintain peace and security, ensuring that the people of Zamfara and all Nigerians can live without fear.
The recent development in Zamfara State, Abdulahi concluded, demonstrates a significant shift towards normalcy, and with continued collaboration between the government, military, and citizens, there is a brighter and safer future for all.
