The National Vice Chairman, Northwest of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Sani Danmasani, has clarified that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano is the party’s leader, not Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Danmasani emphasized that the Kano state governor is the party leader by virtue of being the only governor of the party.

According to Danmasani, Kwankwaso’s role as the 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP ended with the election, and his subsequent expulsion from the party for anti-party activities has rendered any claims of leadership null and void.

The NNPP chieftain lamented the continued reference to Kwankwaso as the party leader by the media, stating that it has led to unauthorized negotiations with other political parties.

Danmasani emphasized that only the party’s authorized officials, including Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder and life member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Gilbert Agbo Major, the National Chairman, and Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the Secretary General, can negotiate on behalf of the NNPP. Any negotiations conducted by Kwankwaso or his group will be considered null and void.

The NNPP scribe appealed to Kwankwaso to stop using the party’s name to criticize the ruling party and the Presidency, stating that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the nation’s challenges. Danmasani reiterated that Nigeria will overcome its current difficulties with the help of friends like America and Israel.

The NNPP official urged the media to refer to Kwankwaso using his correct title, former Senator, former Governor of Kano State, and 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP, rather than party leader.
