The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has intensified public sensitisation, screening of vehicle documents and reward for compliant driver to promote road safety.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, gave the assurance during a sensitisation programme for drivers on Thursday in Lagos.

The programme featured reward for traffic regulations-complaint drivers.
The event had the theme: ‘Drive Safe, Arrive Alive’.
It was organised by the FRSC sector command in collaboration with Leadway Assurance.
It took place at the Biode Motor Park at Ojota.
The exercise involved checks on commercial, private and government vehicles, focusing on documents and safety equipment.
Hamzat said that the safety of all Nigerians, especially Lagos residents, was important to the sector command.
“Drivers who met the requirements were given souvenirs as incentives.
“The initiative, carried out in partnership with Leadway Assurance, is aimed at encouraging voluntary compliance rather than enforcement through penalties.
“The programme reflects people-friendly approach and not focused on issuing fines but on ensuring that road users arrive safely at their destinations,” he said.
The FRSC boss emphasised the importance of possessing valid driver’s licence, urging motorists to regularly verify their licence status and comply with traffic regulations to enhance road safety.
He said that the new strategy had improved engagement with drivers, allowing for better understanding and interaction.
He called on more organisations to support the initiative to build a safer transport environment.
The Head, Technical Risk Management, Leadway Assurance, Mr Olatunde Otuyemi, said that the exercise was aimed to educate commercial drivers on the importance of proper documentation.
According to Otuyemi, enhanced compliance will reduce risks on Lagos roads.
“The exercise is aimed to improve drivers’ understanding of safety measures and foster cooperation with regulatory authorities.
“Many drivers possess insurance documents without fully understanding their purpose.
“The programme will enlighten them on the benefits of insurance, especially during road accidents,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the initiative would be extended to other motor parks across the state, saying that more awareness would improve compliance and significantly boost road safety.
