The Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc., in partnership with the Car Love Show and K-Cool Automobile, has hosted a car maintenance and safety clinic in Lagos as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Dr Adaobi Nwakuche, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.
Nwakuche said that the safety clinic attracted a community of car owners, including female E-hailing drivers, to mark the company’s first step in a broader plan to promote road safety and reduce preventable vehicle-related accidents across Nigeria.
The managing director emphasised the company’s commitment to building a safety-first culture by starting with Lagos and eventually extending to other parts of Nigeria.
“This initiative is about prevention, education and safety. We are starting here in Lagos, but the plan is to roll this out across all our branches.
“When people understand how to maintain their vehicles, they reduce the chances of accidents, protect lives, and make our roads safer for everyone.
“That is the kind of impact we are committed to as a responsible insurer,” Nwakuche said.
Mr Arinze Adigwe, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications of Veritas Kapital, described the event as a CSR initiative focused on making direct impact on communities.
“This is not about selling insurance, it is about being present where it matters.
“Educating the everyday car owner on basic maintenance is one way to reduce claims, but more importantly, it is how we help people to stay safe and avoid harm.
“Through this platform, we are enabling conversations that ultimately contribute to a safer society,” he said.
Mr Oluwakayode Osorun, General Manager at K-Cool, provided insights on essential car maintenance practices, and emphasised the importance of understanding the right components and fluids for each vehicle.
“We took time to guide participants on proper maintenance routines – from the right type of engine oil to use, to the appropriate brake fluid, transmission oil, and even tyre choices.
“When car owners use the wrong products or ignore small warning signs, it increases the risk of breakdowns and accidents. Simple knowledge can prevent major loss,” he said.
The event featured free vehicle diagnostics and one-on-one consultations with automotive professionals from K-Cool Automobile Workshop and Academy.
