The National President of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, has met with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, to discuss the impact of the nationwide enforcement against unregistered vehicles on freight forwarding and logistics operations.

During a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Police Command, Ogunojemite raised concerns affecting freight forwarders, logistics operators and other stakeholders in the maritime industry, particularly as they relate to the movement of cargo within Lagos and across the country.

He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and key players in the logistics and maritime sectors to ensure a secure environment that also supports legitimate business activities.

A major focus of the meeting was the recent directive by the Inspector-General of Police ordering a nationwide clampdown on unregistered vehicles.

While reaffirming APFFLON’s support for efforts aimed at improving security and ensuring proper vehicle registration, Ogunojemite appealed to the Police to carry out the enforcement with adequate public sensitisation and consideration for genuine freight operators, vehicle importers and dealers.

According to him, the freight forwarding and logistics industry remains a critical driver of trade facilitation, port operations and economic growth. He noted that enforcement measures should be implemented in a way that does not unnecessarily hinder lawful business operations.

The APFFLON President also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting professionalism, regulatory compliance and constructive engagement with government agencies in advancing the growth of Nigeria’s freight forwarding, logistics and maritime sectors.

Responding, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, assured the delegation of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, fairness and continuous engagement with industry stakeholders.

He stated that the Lagos State Police Command would continue to work closely with operators in the sector while ensuring strict compliance with existing laws and directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police.
