Today, March 2nd, 1991, a remarkable vision came to life in the historic city of Abeokuta. The Nigerian Navy Secondary School Abeokuta, popularly known as NNSS ABK, located in the Onikoko Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The handover ceremony was graced by the then Military Governor of Ogun State, Navy Captain Oladeinde Joseph, who commended the Nigerian Navy for establishing a model school in the city.

The then Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako, charged the school to train children to excel in all aspects of life, emphasizing that although a civilian secondary school, NNSS ABK should be regarded as the Navy’s equivalent of a military school.
Sited on 35 hectares of land in Ibara, NNSS ABK remains the only Nigerian Navy secondary school that is an all-boys boarding school. Since its inception, the school’s affairs have been piloted by dedicated Commandants, ensuring a seamless blend of military discipline, academic excellence, and character formation.

Over the past 35 years, NNSS ABK has built a reputation for academic excellence. Students have consistently excelled in national examinations such as WAEC and NECO, while also achieving remarkable success in external competitions at regional and national levels.

Beyond academics, the school has nurtured talents in sports, debating, quiz competitions, and leadership programs, producing well-rounded individuals ready to make meaningful contributions to society.

The commitment of past and present teachers, administrators, and staff has ensured that NNSS ABK maintains its high standards. Generations of alumni carry the values of discipline, resilience, and integrity instilled in them, serving across Nigeria and internationally in diverse professions.

As NNSS ABK celebrates its 35th anniversary in February 2026, it looks toward the future with renewed ambition. Guided by its founding principles, the school continues to innovate in education, nurture talents, and develop leaders equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world.

From 2 March 1991 to today, NNSS ABK stands as a proud symbol of discipline, excellence, and visionary education. Happy 35th Anniversary to NNSS ABK — honoring the past, celebrating achievements, and inspiring future generations to reach even greater heights.
