…Announces Cash Awards for Outstanding Graduands
The President of the Alumni of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO), Mr Emmanuel Maiguwa, has urged graduating cadets of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, to embrace networking, professional development and mentorship as essential tools for building successful careers in the maritime industry.
Maiguwa gave the advice in his goodwill message at the Academy’s Cadets Passing-Out Parade and Graduation Ceremony held on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Congratulating the graduands, he commended the Academy’s management for its contributions to the development of the institution and the training of competent maritime professionals.

He acknowledged the demanding nature of the cadets’ training, explaining that some undergo two years of academic and regimental training, while others spend up to four or five years, depending on their industrial training requirements.
AMANO President said completing their academic and professional programmes was only the beginning of another challenging phase, urging the graduands to seek guidance from experienced maritime professionals and remain committed to continuous learning.
According to him, AMANO provides an established platform for graduates to connect with former students of the Academy who have gained valuable experience and are contributing to the growth of the maritime industry.
He therefore encouraged the new graduates to identify and join AMANO chapters in their respective locations to benefit from the experience, support and professional connections of older alumni.
Maiguwa also invited the Acting Rector, graduating cadets and their lecturers to the forthcoming AMANO Convention and Stakeholders’ Engagement scheduled for November 12–14, 2026, in Lagos.
He explained that the gathering would provide an opportunity to introduce the newly graduated cadets and their lecturers to maritime companies, institutions and other industry stakeholders, thereby expanding their exposure to professional and employment opportunities.
As part of its commitment to encouraging academic excellence and professional development, AMANO also announced cash awards for outstanding graduating cadets.
The awards include ₦150,000 each for the Best HND Graduating Cadet and Best ND Graduating Cadet.
The AMANO Professional Award for Best HND MTBM carries a cash prize of ₦200,000, sponsored by Mr Felix Ola Alabi, while the Alumnus Female Professional Award for the Best Female Graduating Cadet attracts ₦100,000.

The awards are aimed at recognising outstanding performance and motivating cadets to maintain high academic and professional standards.
