The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) says it will honour outstanding contributors to Nigeria’s transport sector at its 2026 Annual Transport Summit scheduled for Sept. 24 in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, TCAN said the summit, themed “Unlocking Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics,” would hold at the Radisson Hotel & Suites and bring together key stakeholders across the nation’s transportation value chain.
It said participants would include players in aviation, maritime, rail and road transport, as well as logistics service providers, policymakers, regulators, captains of industry, financial institutions and development partners.
According to the association, the summit will feature the presentation of Champions of Transport Industry Development (CoTID) certificates to government agencies and operators that have made significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s transportation sector.
“The 2026 TCAN Transport Summit is set to recognise agencies of government and operators who have contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria’s transportation sector,” the statement said.
TCAN Chairman, Mr Tola Adenubi, said transportation logistics remained the backbone of economic development and deserved sustained recognition and investment.
“From cargo handling at airports and seaports to inland waterways freight and passenger movement, and last-mile delivery systems, the efficiency of Nigeria’s logistics ecosystem plays a decisive role in determining the competitiveness of the nation’s economy,” Adenubi said.
He added that the summit would explore innovative strategies, digital transformation, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships and regulatory frameworks needed to optimise the sector.
Also speaking, Chairman of the 2026 Conference Committee, Mr Suleiman Idris, said the event would feature high-level panel discussions, keynote addresses and interactive sessions.
Idris said discussions would assess the current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture and identify bottlenecks affecting seamless cargo and passenger movement.
He added that stakeholders would examine the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion, highlight investment opportunities in the logistics and supply chain ecosystem, and offer policy recommendations to enhance efficiency and global competitiveness.

It added that the forum continued to shape policy conversations and promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s transportation industry.
