*** Expelled Members Can’t Speak for NNPP, Party Warns Media

The National Working Committee of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has issued a press statement to clarify a recent news report that suggested the party had congratulated Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and extolled his leadership qualities on his birthday. The party has denied issuing an official statement to that effect, stating that it was not aware of any such statement.

According to the NNPP, the statement purportedly signed by Ladipo Johnson did not emanate from the party headquarters, and Johnson is not a member of the party. In fact, the party confirmed that Johnson, along with Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, and Ahmed Ajuji, were expelled from the party through internal democratic mechanisms and confirmed by court judgments.

The NNPP stated that only its Founder, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, issued a statement on Kwankwaso’s birthday based on their personal relationship. This statement was not an official party statement, but rather a personal congratulatory message.

The party also noted that Ladipo Johnson, having been expelled from the party since August 28, 2023, for gross anti-party activities, cannot speak for the party. Therefore, any statement attributed to him is not representative of the party’s position.

Furthermore, the NNPP emphasized that during Kwankwaso’s one-year stay as the party’s presidential candidate, the party was not able to establish sound leadership qualities that would be extolled. As such, the party would not have issued a statement describing attributes that do not exist.

The NNPP urged the press to be worthy partners in the quest for true democracy by verifying the exact true positions in the party before reporting. The party’s National Chairman, Dr. Major Agbo Gilbert, signed the press statement, which was released in 2025.

In conclusion, the NNPP has set the record straight, denying any official statement on Kwankwaso’s leadership qualities and clarifying that expelled members cannot speak for the party. The party has also urged journalists to verify information before reporting to ensure accurate representation of its position.
