The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has launched a 12-month Oil and Gas Field Readiness Programme to equip 300 Nigerian graduates with the technical skills and practical experience needed to build successful careers in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
The programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. It features three months of intensive classroom training followed by nine months of on-the-job training with selected oil and gas service companies across the country.
The 300 participants emerged through a competitive selection process, with 240 trainees based in Lagos and 60 in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, described the initiative as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s human capital and a key step towards strengthening local content in the petroleum industry.
Represented by the Board’s Assistant Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mr. Tari Bufazi, Ogbe said the programme reflects NCDMB’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the energy sector.
He noted that participants would receive hands-on training in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering while gaining valuable workplace experience under the supervision of industry experts.
According to him, the trainees will also earn internationally recognised certifications, improving their employability and preparing them to compete in both the Nigerian and global oil and gas industries.
Ogbe urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by demonstrating discipline, commitment and a willingness to learn throughout the programme.
