The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has inaugurated a new committee tasked with overseeing the acquisition of a N500 million secretariat, marking a significant milestone as the organization prepares to celebrate its Silver Jubilee.

Scheduled for November 16, 2024, in Lagos, the Silver Jubilee event will commemorate NAGAFF’s 25 years of contributions to the freight forwarding industry and initiate the ambitious project for a permanent headquarters. This state-of-the-art secretariat aims to provide a dedicated space for the association’s continued growth and operations.

During a press conference held at NAGAFF Headquarters Apapa, Lagos yesterday, the NAGAFF’s National President, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, expressed profound pride in the association’s achievements since its inception by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam. “Our Silver Jubilee is not just a celebration of our past but also a commitment to securing a future through the acquisition of a new secretariat,” Chief Ezisi said.

The inauguration of the Secretariat Acquisition Committee is a critical step towards achieving this goal. Chief Ezisi highlighted the dual focus of the committee: organizing a memorable Silver Jubilee celebration and raising the N500 million required for the new headquarters. “This new secretariat will symbolize our progress and provide a permanent home for NAGAFF’s activities, reflecting our values of excellence and professionalism,” he noted.

Despite the challenging economic climate, Chief Ezisi expressed confidence in raising the necessary funds, citing the strong relationships NAGAFF has built within the maritime industry. “We are confident that our industry partners will support us. Though the path may be difficult, our determination and unity will see us through,” he affirmed.

The Chairman of the Jubilee Planning Committee, Mr. Afam Chukwuma, elaborated on the committee’s responsibilities, including securing a venue for the celebration and facilitating the acquisition of the secretariat. “We have already identified potential sites and made initial commitments. Even if the full amount isn’t immediately raised, we will begin the process and build the secretariat step by step,” Mr. Afam said.

The Silver Jubilee celebration will serve as a platform to showcase NAGAFF’s achievements and rally support for the N500 million secretariat project. As the association approaches this landmark event, it remains committed to advancing its legacy and securing its future.
