The Lagos Chapter of the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO), has made history with the election of Miss Loveth Haruna as its first-ever female Chairman, marking a significant shift in the chapter’s leadership dynamics.
Haruna’s landslide victory, with 64 votes out of 64, demonstrates her broad appeal and the chapter’s commitment to inclusive leadership.

The election, which took place on Friday, was notable for its transparency and inclusivity, with all members participating in the process.
According to the Election Committee, a total of 64 votes were received and counted, with Haruna securing an impressive 64 votes, demonstrating her overwhelming support and endorsement from the chapter members.
The newly elected executives include:
- * Miss Loveth Haruna – Chairman
- * Essiet Aniekan – Vice Chairman
- * Tobi Kalejaiye – Secretary-General
- * Akhighu Louis – Assistant Secretary-General
- * Frank Anthony – Welfare Secretary
- * Reuben Untenge – Financial Secretary
- * Esther Mogoli – Treasurer
- * Ngwoke Pueth – Provost Marshal.
- The only contested position was the Public Relations Officer (PRO), which saw Adekunle Sowade emerge victorious with 35 votes, defeating Gbadeyan Oluwaseun, who garnered 29 votes
- Haruna, the newly elected Chairman, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members for reposing their confidence in her.
