The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command Command has generated N3,480,970,924.67 in revenue for February 2026, a significant increase from N743,698,652.16 in February 2025. This remarkable growth is a testament to the Command’s efforts in enhancing trade facilitation and security.
Comptroller Wale Adenuga, the Customs Area Controller, Seme Area Command, attributed the surge to seamless trade facilitation and collaboration with security agencies.
Adenuga made this disclosure during an interactive session at a stakeholders’ engagement meeting with cross-border traders, farmers, and stakeholders.

The event, held in Badagry on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, was themed “Empowering Cross-Border Traders through Trade Information Desk for Agricultural Traders”. Comptroller Adenuga represented the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, PhD.
According to Comptroller Adenuga, the Command has reduced checkpoints along the Seme–Gbaji axis, with only Agbara and Gbaji remaining as officially approved and sanctioned checkpoints. This has contributed to improved trade flow and security.
The Command has also made notable enforcement successes, including intercepting a Toyota Highlander vehicle with 22 packages of cocaine worth over N1 billion. This feat was made possible through credible information shared by the CGC.
In addition, the Command has seized 1,000 bags of 50kg parboiled rice in February 2026, underscoring its commitment to suppressing smuggling and protecting Nigeria’s economic borders.
He reiterated the Command’s vigilance and commitment to working closely with stakeholders, traders, farmers, sister security agencies, and regional partners to improve trade and security along the Lagos-Abidjan corridor.
The Command’s efforts have created a safer and more enabling environment for cross-border trade, with revenue generation and trade facilitation remaining key priorities.
