In an enlightening presentation to the Faculty of the School of Transport and Logistics at Lagos State University,the Managing Director/Africa Representative and Chief Surveyor for Conarina Group America, Dr. Capt. Anthony Onoharigho highlighted the vast career opportunities in the maritime, air, and land logistics sectors. Emphasizing the pivotal role of transport and logistics in the global economy, he underscored its capacity to offer dynamic and rewarding career paths for professionals equipped with specialized skills.
Dr. Onoharigho stated this while addressing the Students of Lagos State University, Faculty of Transport and Logistics on Monday in Lagos. He described transport and logistics as a comprehensive system involving the production, storage, inventory management, delivery, and distribution of goods and services.
Capt. Onoharigho stressed that the sector is an essential component of the global supply chain, ensuring the safe and timely movement of goods while contributing significantly to economic growth.
Breaking down the industry into three main areas—maritime, air, and land logistics—Dr. Onoharigho explored the unique opportunities each sector offers. Maritime logistics, for instance, includes careers as Merchant Navy Officers, Marine Surveyors, or port managers, catering to those with expertise in nautical science and maritime operations.
Air logistics provides opportunities for pilots and logistics managers, key players in connecting global markets. Land logistics, which encompasses road and rail transport, is vital for ensuring seamless connectivity between regions.
He further highlighted the growing importance of supply chain management, where professionals are tasked with overseeing production flows, inventory, and delivery processes. With the integration of technology and sustainability practices, roles in marketing, IT consultancy, and maintenance engineering are also becoming increasingly relevant in the logistics industry.
Dr. Onoharigho concluded by emphasizing the industry’s evolving nature and its potential to offer long-term career growth. He encouraged students and graduates to explore the diverse opportunities within the sector, noting its significant role in supporting global trade and economic stability.
The presentation left a lasting impression on attendees, many of whom expressed a renewed interest in pursuing careers in this dynamic and ever-expanding field.
On his part, the President of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics in LASU, Olawale Olalekan David, led the executive team in honoring Capt. Dr. Anthony with a special award for his exceptional contributions to the faculty’s growth and success.
The presentation, held at Rockview Hotel, served as a testament to Capt. Dr. Anthony’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and student empowerment.

The event also highlighted Capt. Dr. Anthony’s innovative introduction of the Coronina Maritime Academy course, recently approved by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria. The professional course is expected to open doors to new career and job opportunities for students, further solidifying his legacy as a transformative leader in the faculty.
