*** As B’Odogwu System Yields Success, the Command Generates ₦159 Billion in August

- The Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday was abuzz with excitement as Officers, family members, friends, and journalists gathered to witness the decoration of 187 Officers who received promotions. The conference hall was packed to capacity, with attendees eagerly awaiting the ceremony.
The occasion was marked by the presence of high-ranking Officers, including Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, who led the decoration ceremony in Lagos.

He was assisted by Comptroller Joseph Anani of the Ports Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command, Comptroller Istifanus Musa, and other senior officers. Family members of the promoted Officers were also in attendance, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Comptroller Onyeka began the ceremony by congratulating the promoted Officers, emphasizing that with great responsibility comes great expectation.
He expressed his delight in announcing that 87% of Officers from the Command who took the promotion examination were successful, a testament to the Command’s hard work and dedication. This impressive pass rate is a significant achievement, reflecting the Command’s commitment to excellence.
The recent promotion exercise, which saw 3,312 senior Officers across various ranks receive promotions, was approved by the Board of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The promotions ranged from Comptroller of Customs (CC) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II). Comptroller Onyeka expressed his satisfaction that a significant number of officers from his Command were among those promoted, highlighting the Command’s outstanding performance.
The Customs Area Controller also took a moment to reflect on the Command’s achievements, citing the impressive revenue generation of over ₦159 billion in August.
He attributed this success to the implementation of the Unified Customs Management System, codenamed B’Odogwu.
This system has proven to be a game-changer, streamlining processes and increasing efficiency. Comptroller Onyeka emphasized that B’Odogwu has come to stay, as it has served the Command well.
In a consolatory message to Officers who were not promoted, Comptroller Onyeka shared his personal experience, recalling that he joined the Service in 1991 and has worked his way up the ranks.
He encouraged those who were not promoted to be patient and trust in the process, emphasizing that hard work and perseverance will ultimately be rewarded.
The decoration ceremony proceeded with Comptroller Onyeka and other senior Officers decorating the promoted officers, including Deputy Comptroller Olisa Alumona.
The event concluded with a lavish reception, featuring food and drinks for all attendees. The ceremony was a fitting celebration of the promoted officers’ achievements, and a testament to the Command’s commitment to excellence.
As the ceremony came to a close, the promoted Officers were left to bask in the glory of their achievement, their hard work and dedication recognized by their peers and superiors.
