The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has praised the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), describing his contributions to public service and community development as a source of pride to the Ife Kingdom and the Modakeke community.

The monarch made the remarks on May 28, 2026, during the annual Eid-el-Kabir gathering hosted by Adeniyi at his residence in Modakeke, Osun State.

The event brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, senior Customs officers, community stakeholders, family members, friends and associates.

Speaking at the gathering, the Ooni said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent commendation of the Customs boss reflected the confidence reposed in him and the progress being recorded under his leadership.

According to the monarch, the President’s public expression of satisfaction was a clear indication of the trust Adeniyi has earned through his performance and commitment to national service.

“We are proud of him and the work he is doing. When the President publicly expressed satisfaction with his performance, it showed the level of confidence he has in him and the results he is delivering. His efforts within the Customs Service and his contributions to society demonstrate the qualities of a true leader and unifier,” Oba Ogunwusi said.

The Ooni further pledged the continued support of the Ife Kingdom for the Customs Comptroller-General, noting that his ability to unite people remains one of his greatest strengths.

“He brings people together, and that is what leadership is about. We will continue to support him and pray for his success,” the monarch added.

In his response, Adeniyi expressed appreciation to the Ooni, community leaders, family members, friends and other guests for their support and goodwill.

He described Eid-el-Kabir as a period for reflection on the values of sacrifice, gratitude, obedience and service to humanity, adding that such gatherings provide an opportunity to strengthen relationships and renew commitment to nation-building.

The Customs chief highlighted the achievements of the Nigeria Customs Service in areas such as revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, technological innovation and corporate social responsibility.

He said the Service remains committed to supporting the Federal Government’s economic objectives through reforms aimed at facilitating legitimate trade, strengthening national security, improving compliance and promoting economic growth.

Adeniyi also noted that the Service has continued to implement community-focused initiatives across the country, particularly in education, healthcare and other social intervention programmes designed to improve the lives of Nigerians.

He assured stakeholders that the NCS would sustain ongoing reforms to enhance operational efficiency while upholding professionalism, transparency and excellence in service delivery.
