By Sandra Chukwunyere

The Acting Customs Area Controller of Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Comptroller O.O. Afeni, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Yisa Olaniyan Adelakun.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Z. Chado, Afeni described the late monarch as a symbol of peace, a custodian of the people’s rich cultural heritage and a committed advocate of community development.

He said the monarch’s reign was marked by efforts to promote peace and strengthen cooperation between the Nigeria Customs Service and communities in the Ipokia border area.

According to Afeni, the late traditional ruler played an important role in fostering mutual understanding between the Command and the people of Ipokia, a relationship that contributed to improved border security and economic stability in Ogun State.

“We have lost a father, a wise counsellor and a valued stakeholder in our efforts to strengthen border security and drive economic growth. His Royal Majesty was instrumental in building trust and cooperation between the Nigeria Customs Service and the people of Ipokia. His passing leaves a vacuum that will be deeply felt,” Afeni said.

On behalf of the officers and men of Ogun I Area Command, the Acting Customs Area Controller extended his condolences to the royal family, the Ipokia Traditional Council and the entire people of Ipokia Kingdom.
