The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has once again demonstrated its regulatory effectiveness with the successful resolution of an operational dispute between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics.
The intervention, carried out on Wednesday, May 25, helped avert a potential disruption that could have affected port operations and trade flow within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The disagreement reportedly stemmed from issues surrounding the berthing of a vessel operated by AGL Logistics, which led to tension between the two stakeholders and concerns over possible operational delays.
Acting swiftly, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Mr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq., MON, FCILT, PhD, initiated immediate mediation between both parties.
The intervention led to constructive dialogue, which eventually resulted in a mutual agreement and the restoration of normal operations at the port.
According to the Council, the resolution underscores its commitment to promoting trade facilitation, ensuring seamless port operations, and maintaining industrial harmony within the maritime sector.
The NSC also urged stakeholders to maximize terminal efficiency, embrace collaboration, and work collectively to protect Nigeria’s global maritime reputation.
Following the resolution, both SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics agreed on improved cargo evacuation plans and enhanced operational cooperation to prevent future disputes.
The two organisations commended the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and its leadership for their swift response and effective handling of the matter.
Industry observers described the intervention as another strong demonstration of the Council’s role in safeguarding port productivity and preventing disruptions that could affect national economic activities.
