The new Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Port Command, Babatunde Olomu, hit the ground running today with a familiarization visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Ishola.

During the visit, Comptroller Olomu emphasized the crucial role of security, tranquility, and stability provided by the Nigeria Police Force in enabling the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to fulfill its revenue generation mandate. He expressed his gratitude for the consistent support from the Ports Authority Police, highlighting the importance of their collaboration in facilitating trade and ensuring maximum security.

“The Nigeria Customs Service relies on the Nigeria Police Force to maintain a secure environment, which is essential for revenue generation and trade facilitation,” Olomu stated. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and sustaining the existing interagency collaboration between the NCS and the Nigeria Police Force.

Olomu also stressed the importance of leveraging good relationships with relevant stakeholders to foster a secure and enabling environment for businesses. He mentioned that under his leadership, the Apapa Area Command will focus on intelligence gathering to enhance its operational mandate.

CP Olanrewaju Ishola welcomed Olomu and his team to the Command headquarters, congratulating him on his recent appointment. The Commissioner underscored the strategic importance of the Apapa area to the nation’s economy, noting that the port premises serve as critical national infrastructure. He emphasized the need for proactive policing to ensure the maximum protection of port facilities and maintain public safety.

The visit marks the beginning of Olomu’s tenure as the Customs Area Controller at Apapa Port Command, with a clear focus on enhancing collaboration and improving security measures to support the nation’s economic activities.
