The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning against attacks on its leaders and condemned the ongoing smear campaigns aimed at creating discord within the party. In a press statement released by the party’s chairman, Hon. Aminu Sani Gumel, the APC expressed concerns over the actions of individuals attempting to destabilize the party through misinformation and divisive tactics.

The party has been closely monitoring various social media posts and mainstream media publications that it claims are part of a calculated effort by “party enemies” to sow seeds of disharmony among members. These individuals, who are not recognized as card-carrying members of the APC, have reportedly been leveraging a small group of discontented party members to promote their agenda against party cohesion and stability.

Highlighting the leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi and the former state governor, H.E. Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, Gumel emphasized that their reputations are held in high regard within the party and should be protected. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring that no misguided elements disrupt the APC government’s ability to fulfill its campaign promises in Jigawa State and across Nigeria.

The statement specifically addressed recent unfounded allegations against the Hon. Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, describing the claims as baseless and part of a smear campaign orchestrated by a faceless group. The party questioned the group’s motives, particularly given the minister’s previous role as the APC’s Northern Region Campaign Coordinator, where he successfully led efforts that secured victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

In response to the ongoing attacks, the Jigawa APC pledged to investigate the source of these defamatory statements and take appropriate legal and political action against the perpetrators. The party stated that it would not hesitate to utilize all necessary legal avenues to identify and sanction those behind the smear campaigns, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining unity and integrity within its ranks.

The statement concluded with a call for solidarity among party members, urging them to remain focused on the APC’s mission and goals while dismissing the divisive rhetoric of external and internal adversaries.
