The Federal Government has announced plans to establish a Ministry of Livestock Development to harness a multi-billion-dollar agricultural opportunity and contribute to a significant reduction in grain prices. This initiative is part of broader economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
President Tinubu had presented a proposed budget of N49.7 trillion on December 18, 2024, but the figure was later revised to N54.2 trillion following additional revenue projections. The budget, tagged the “Budget of Restoration,” focuses on key sectors such as security, infrastructure, education, and health. Security received an allocation of N4.91 trillion, while infrastructure, education, and health were allocated N4.06 trillion, N3.52 trillion, and N2.48 trillion, respectively.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, emphasized that the government’s bold economic strategies are enhancing fiscal capacity, reforming the tax system, and improving living standards for Nigerians through various social support initiatives.
“We are witnessing a transformative era, where hope is being renewed for all Nigerians, regardless of age or gender, across the nation,” he stated.
The government remains committed to strengthening key sectors to drive national development and economic stability.
