Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has been elected and announced as Vice President of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Global.

Additionally, he assumes the roles of Executive Board Member, ITF Global, and Chairman, ITF Africa.

According to an official release by Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna noted that these appointments were made during the recent Regional Conference held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, from the 5th to the 7th of March, 2024.

Prior to his elevation to these esteemed positions within the ITF, Dr. Adeyanju served as the Chairman of Seafarers and Dockers Sessions at ITF London and as a Member of the Fair Practices Committee (FPC).

Dr. Adeyanju’s exceptional leadership qualities and his dynamic approach to fostering relationships between employers and employees in the labor sector, particularly within the maritime industry, have been widely recognized. It is evident that his dedication and commitment have propelled him to these prestigious roles within the ITF.

This press statement aimed to rectify previous reports that incorrectly stated Comrade Adeyanju’s positions within the ITF following the Abidjan Regional Conference. It noted that he has been duly appointed as Vice President of ITF Global, Chairman of ITF Africa, and an Executive Board Member of ITF Global.
