In a remarkable achievement, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced a significant revenue collection of over N1.3 trillion at the Apapa Port in the first half of 2025.
This milestone was shared by Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, during his visit to the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF).
Comptroller Olomu reported that the NCS collected N1.378 trillion between January and June 2025, attributing this success to the strategic collaboration with stakeholders such as NAGAFF.
He emphasized the critical role of partnerships in advancing the Customs modernization process, highlighting initiatives like B’Odogwu, where NAGAFF members have participated in training sessions aimed at developing innovative, local solutions for the service.
In his address, Comptroller Olomu commended the NAGAFF Academy, praising it as a progressive initiative focused on enhancing capacity building within the freight forwarding profession. He also encouraged NAGAFF members to prioritize their health by adopting regular exercise and healthy living practices.
Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of NAGAFF, acknowledged Comptroller Olomu’s leadership and noted a significant decrease in unprofessional conduct at the Apapa Command since his tenure began.
He urged freight forwarders to maintain integrity by ensuring transparency and honesty in their cargo declarations, underscoring that the success of the destination inspection system is contingent on accurate documentation.
Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, President of NAGAFF, lauded Comptroller Olomu for his proactive engagement with the association, asserting that this visit reflects a renewed commitment to trust, collaboration, and progress in the freight forwarding community.
