The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has championed and inspected vehicles produced by members of the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) at the Service’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
This event aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy, which seeks to foster a bold and confident business culture in Nigeria.
During the inspection on Thursday, May 8, the CGC commended the association for turning up in full strength and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the vehicles.
He noted that in terms of aesthetics, he was satisfied with what he saw, and in terms of functionality, the manufacturers assured him that the vehicles are quite efficient.
The CGC also appreciated the “Made-in-Nigeria” imprint on the vehicles, indicating they are fully assembled locally.
Adewale Adeniyi praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy initiative in the automobile industry, stating it is on the right course. He pledged that the Nigeria Customs Service would continue to patronize and support the sector for the growth and well-being of the nation’s industrial economy.
The event featured responses from key stakeholders, including Ilekuba Anslem, Chairman and CEO of Cedric Masters Group, who commended the CGC for his unwavering support for the automobile industry.
Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman and CEO of Nord Automobile Limited, praised the CGC for championing made-in-Nigeria vehicles even before the policy announcement. Ajayi assured the CGC that his company would not abandon its vehicles after sales.
Jonas Ojukwu, a Director at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited (IVM), also assured the Nigeria Customs Service of the company’s commitment to delivering the best to the Service.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the event included representatives from Mikano Motors Nigeria and Stallion Motors Nigeria.
The event demonstrated the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to supporting local industries and promoting the growth of the nation’s industrial economy through the Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy initiative.
