The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has charged its newly-promoted corps commanders and deputy corps commanders to remain responsible, steadfast, and loyal.
The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS2, Assistant Corps Marshal Matthew Olonisaye, gave the charge during the decoration of the promoted officers on Wednesday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that RS2 of the FRSC covers Lagos and Ogun states.
Olonisaye said, “I wish to congratulate the officers. Promotion only comes from God. Your promotion means more responsibilities, including ensuring lives are saved on highways. When you were at lower ranks, some things may have been overlooked, but now we expect you to be more responsible, committed, and loyal. Your loyalty to the corps should not be shaken.”
He added that errors would not be tolerated and cautioned that their new positions should not be used to intimidate others.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, described the decoration as a seal of victory and praised Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed for his efficiency.
“This is a total package in the sense that everyone sent for promotion got promoted, and this is a cause for joy. To the promoted officers, to whom much is given, much is expected,” Hamzat said, urging them to work together to make the roads safer.
In his goodwill message, Mr. Abayomi Olukoju, a retired FRSC officer, prayed for the newly-promoted officers to be more effective in their duties.
Col. Ibrahim Gobir from the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army encouraged the promoted officers to be role models. “You need to reflect on what you have accomplished and what you still need to do for the corps and the nation,” he said.
One of the promoted officers, Corps Commander Lucas Oguntade, who spoke on behalf of the newly-promoted officers, thanked God for the privilege. “The exercise was breathtaking, and we appreciate the corps marshal for his magnanimity and the FRSC management for this opportunity. We pray that the spirit of error will not fall on any of us,” he said.
NAN reports that officers promoted to the rank of corps commander are Lucas Oguntade, Nimota Okoro, Chinwendu Iwoha, Adeyemi Bashir, Kareem Olawale, and Onyekachi Nnamani. Adebowale Abayomi and Ayodele Ajayi were elevated to the position of deputy corps commanders.
