The Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) has announced a new partnership with the Oyo State Government aimed at improving agricultural productivity and increasing the incomes of smallholder farmers across Oyo State in south-western Nigeria.

The collaboration was disclosed on March 11, 2026, following a management-level engagement between the two parties focused on strengthening agricultural development in the state by expanding farmers’ access to improved technologies, modern farming practices, and agricultural support services.
According to SAA, the partnership will promote the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices while also strengthening extension services to ensure farmers receive the technical support needed to improve productivity. The initiative is also expected to increase access to improved seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs that can help farmers achieve higher yields.
Through the partnership, SAA will work closely with relevant government institutions and agricultural stakeholders to build farmers’ capacity and encourage the adoption of improved farming techniques. The initiative aims to enhance resilience to climate-related challenges while improving the livelihoods of farming communities across the state.
The Sasakawa Africa Association noted that the collaboration aligns with its longstanding commitment to “walking with the farmer” by supporting programs that empower rural communities and strengthen sustainable food systems.
Officials of the Oyo State Government also emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in driving innovation and expanding opportunities for farmers, noting that such collaborations are critical to transforming agriculture and ensuring food security in the state.
The new partnership is expected to contribute to increased agricultural productivity, improved farmer incomes, and sustainable rural development across Oyo State.
