The Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Port Harcourt has concluded a two-day capacity building workshop focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance classroom learning and instructional delivery recently.
The programme, facilitated by Educastle International Consult, formed part of the school’s strategic initiative to modernize teaching methods and strengthen the professional competencies of its educators.

Organised under the leadership of the NNSS Port Harcourt Commandant, Captain Chinomso Edna Omezurike, the workshop was aligned with contemporary educational transformation objectives and the policy direction of the Directorate of Naval Education. The initiative underscores the school’s commitment to leveraging emerging technologies to improve pedagogical effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
Speaking during the event, Captain Omezurike emphasized that integrating AI tools into classroom instruction has become imperative in today’s rapidly evolving digital learning environment. She described the training as a strategic investment in human capital development, equipping teachers with relevant digital skills required for 21st-century education delivery.
The workshop featured comprehensive sessions on the introduction to the Digital Whiteboard System, its core functions and operational capabilities, as well as step-by-step procedures for effective classroom utilization. Participants also engaged in practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises designed to ensure mastery of the tools.
Additionally, teachers were introduced to other AI-driven educational solutions aimed at enhancing lesson planning, interactive learning, assessment automation and instructional content development.
Participants took part in intensive practical sessions that strengthened their ability to deploy AI-enabled tools to stimulate classroom engagement, improve content visualization, streamline classroom management and optimize assessment processes.
Facilitators from Educastle International Consult provided technical guidance in line with global best practices in educational technology integration, while ensuring compliance with the standards and policy framework of the Directorate of Naval Education.
The successful execution of the workshop further reinforces NNSS Port Harcourt’s reputation as a forward-thinking institution committed to academic excellence, innovation and continuous professional development of its teaching workforce.
