The publication commended his innovative leadership style, clarity of vision, and strong sense of purpose, noting that his tenure has brought renewed direction and measurable progress to the Union and the broader maritime industry.

According to the organisers, Comrade Bunu’s leadership acumen and dedication to the principles of trade unionism have distinguished him within the Nigerian labour movement.

They highlighted his longstanding commitment to labour activism, dating back to his early days as a junior union member, emphasizing that his impact reflects practical action rather than mere rhetoric.

The award, titled the “Impactful Leadership Award,” recognises his tangible industrial achievements and progressive strides recorded under his administration as President-General of MWUN.

Although unavoidably absent at the award presentation ceremony, Comrade Bunu expressed deep appreciation to the management of Landmark Africa Media Magazine for finding him worthy of the honour. His message of gratitude was delivered by the Union’s Secretary-General, Comrade Oniha Erazua, who received the plaque on his behalf.

The leadership of MWUN also commended the publishers for their commitment to truth and professionalism, urging them to continue promoting excellence and integrity in media practice.

This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna,Head of Media, MWUN.
