The Alumni Association of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMANO) organized a one-day career fair at their alma mater, aimed at preparing graduating cadets for the challenges and opportunities in the maritime industry.
The event, held on the Academy’s campus, was spearheaded by AMANO’s Executive Committee and members, under the leadership of the association’s president, Emmanuel Maiguwa. It brought together industry veterans and professionals to inspire and guide the next generation of maritime practitioners.
Renowned speakers, including Captain Garba Gajere, Engr. Ini-obong Ebong, Anne Dung, Oamien Ailemen, and Inoma Frances, shared their experiences in the industry, emphasizing the importance of pride, perseverance, and adaptability in navigating a rapidly evolving sector. They urged the cadets to remain committed to excellence and lifelong learning as key ingredients for success.
In addition to motivational talks, the career fair featured practical sessions designed to enhance the cadets’ employability. Highlights included an on-the-spot interview session that provided immediate job opportunities to some cadets and a CV clinic aimed at equipping participants with job market readiness skills.
The Akwa Ibom Chapter of AMANO played an active role in the event, contributing their expertise and providing additional support to the graduating cadets.
The career fair offered a unique platform for the cadets to network with industry leaders and gain valuable insights, empowering them to approach their future careers with confidence and determination.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Oamien Ailemen, AMANO’s Spokesman, described the event as a resounding success, reinforcing AMANO’s commitment to supporting its alma mater and fostering the growth of maritime professionals.
