ARDA Development Communication Incorporated (ARDA-DCI) has initiated a strategic training session in Lagos State, aimed at equipping media professionals with the skills to enhance the portrayal of women in political leadership. This workshop, organized under the Advance: Women Political Participation in Nigeria (AWPP) Project, is part of a larger effort funded by the Canadian Government through the United Nations Women to boost gender equality and amplify women’s voices in Nigerian governance.

The AWPP Project addresses the numerous barriers that have historically hindered women’s advancement in political leadership roles in Nigeria. By providing media personnel with the tools to represent women in governance more accurately, the project supports interventions that foster inclusive governance, ensuring that women’s contributions and leadership potentials are recognized and valued.

Speaking about the project, ARDA-DCI representatives highlighted the organization’s commitment to sustainable development through culturally competent communication strategies. ARDA-DCI, a Nigerian NGO known for its audience-centric approach, has partnered with major international organizations, such as UNICEF, John Hopkins University, and USAID, in implementing social and behavioral change projects across Africa.
