…as Oshoba says every compliant transaction strengthens Nigeria’s development
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has generated ₦28.1 billion in revenue within 24 hours, setting a new record for the highest single-day revenue collection in the history of the Command.
In a statement signed by Isah Sulaiman, Chief Superintendent of Customs and Customs Public Relations Officer, Apapa Area Command, for the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, the Command said the record was achieved on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The revenue figure, precisely ₦28,102,000,914.61, surpassed the Command’s previous single-day record of ₦20.1 billion, recorded in September 2025.
The latest feat comes barely weeks after the Apapa Command achieved another major milestone, collecting ₦323 billion in revenue in July 2026.
The Command attributed the improved performance to enhanced compliance, effective trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions, improved Customs processes and the increasing efficiency of digital operations.
According to Oshoba, the latest achievement goes beyond breaking a revenue record, stressing that the funds generated by the Service contribute to the resources available to government for national development.
He said such revenue supports government’s ability to fund critical sectors, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services that directly affect the lives of Nigerians.
Oshoba dedicated the milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms.
He also appreciated compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, as well as Nigerians who have continued to provide actionable intelligence to the Service.
The CAC stressed that every compliant transaction contributes to national development and urged stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade.
He noted that a stronger revenue base gives government greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens while creating an environment in which legitimate businesses can thrive.
Oshoba also charged officers and men of the Command not to become complacent following the new record, but to see the achievement as a greater responsibility to deliver more.
He directed personnel to maintain professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders while ensuring that revenue collection is achieved alongside effective trade facilitation.
He further instructed officers to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily obstruct lawful businesses.
The Apapa Area Command said it would continue to sustain the momentum through improved revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger collaboration with stakeholders.
The Command maintained that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s capacity to implement development programmes and improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.
