Primero Transport Services Ltd. (Primero TSL) says by first quarter of next year, 100 of its buses will run cleaner, greener on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Primero TSL, Mr Fola Tinubu, said this at the organisation’s 10th anniversary celebration on Thursday in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Tinubu added that among its many plans for public transport in Lagos, it eventually planned to bring in electric buses.
“We are here to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Primero transport service Ltd., and it’s been ten years of God’s grace, hard work and moving Lagos residents up and down.
“This celebration is to appreciate our staff for their dedication and hard work and our partners for staying with us for the past ten years,” he said.
Tinubu noted that the 10-year journey had been innovative as it had introduced lots of new concepts to public transport in Lagos.
He listed some of its concepts as including being the first company that started using cowry cards and introducing WiFi to its buses.
“It’s been very tough, but we thank God we are still here.
“My message to our passengers is to thank them for their loyalty, steadfastness and for staying with us through thick and thin, because without them, we are nothing.
“We will keep working to try to improve on our services and ensure we provide a world class service,” he said.
He said that the next decade would be one of expansion, innovative transformation, and higher service excellence.
“We are committed to investing in modern technology, improving the customer experience, and contributing meaningfully to the growth of sustainable public transportation in Lagos State and Nigeria,” he said.
The Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, (LAMATA), Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, applauded Primero for showing steadfast commitment to its operation.
She added that it had not just transported passengers, but had helped move Lagos forward.
Akinajo, represented by Mr Bayonle Oladejo, Public Bus Transit Planner, said that it had moved thousands of Lagos residents, connecting them to their livelihoods, families, and dreams.
“On behalf of LAMATA, I extend our profound appreciation, your decade of service is a cornerstone of our integrated multimodal transport vision.
“Primero has demonstrated that public-private partnership is not just a policy, but a powerful engine for city building,” she said.
The LAMATA boss noted that anniversaries are not only for looking back, adding that the future called for even greater innovation, sustainability, and integration.
“The road ahead demands we evolve together, embracing cleaner technologies, enhancing passenger experience, and expanding connectivity.
“So to the management and staff of Primero, thank you for the 10 years of trust, service, and of proving what is possible.
`”Here is to the foundation you have built, here is to the Lagos we are shaping together, and here is to the next decade of growth,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Primero TSL is a major private operator of Lagos’ Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, running key routes like Ikorodu to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).
NAN added that royal fathers also graced the occasion.
The highlight of the celebration is presentation of leadership awards, recognition and presentation of gifts to Primero TSL operators and ambassadors, and the presentation of long-service certificates to staff.
