The Lagos Bus Services Ltd. (LBSL) has tasked its bus drivers on professionalism, care, and efficiency while operating their buses.
Mr Idowu Oguntona, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, LBSL, said this at the capacity building for bus driver with the theme: “Performance Improvement for Excellence in Service Delivery,” on Friday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 400 bus drivers were trained.
Oguntona described the training as an investment to enhance the growth and development of the bus drivers.
“Today’s training is not just an event but an investment in the bus drivers’ growth and their collective future,” he said.

He reiterated that the LBSL would remain committed to delivering a transportation service and experience that embodies safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Oguntona said the training would enable the bus drivers, as frontline ambassadors of the brand play a pivotal role in upholding this commitment.
He said noted that the bus captains are the face of the LBSL, stressing that their performance directly impacts the organisation reputation which necessitated the training.
“The theme reflects our determination to continually raise the bar, ensuring that every journey with LBSL is a testament to professionalism, care, and efficiency.
“Through this program, we will explore strategies to enhance your skills, instill best practices, and equip you with tools to navigate the dynamic challenges of modern transportation.
“Together, we will foster a culture of excellence that resonates with our core values and reaffirms our position as leaders in Lagos’s transportation ecosystem,” he said.
Also commenting, Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), urged the bus captains to always abide by the service key performance indicators.
Akinajo, who was represented by Dr Kemi Amure, Director Bus Services, LAMATA, said the Lagos State Government wants to see a situation whereby no accidents are recorded and with an increase in ridership.
“We are not joking with performance. As professional drivers, you must be seen top-notch and not committing any offenses, and so what we are doing today must reflect in your performance,” she said.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged the bus Drivers to always put the best foot forward.
Osiyemi, represented by Mr Akin-George Fashola, the Director Lagos Vehicle Inspection Service, assured the service that whatever concerns they had would be addressed.
Also, Mrs Afusat Tiamiyu, General Manager Lagos State Driving Institute, urged the participants to always abide by the three – Cs, which are Caution, Concentration, and Consideration while driving.
