The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) announces the reopening of the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal, effective Monday, January 19, 2026. The terminal was previously closed on October 20, 2025, due to navigational concerns caused by water hyacinth infestation.
According to the statement signed by the LASWA Management, the decision to reopen the terminal follows the successful clearance of the waterway and completion of safety assessments, in consultation with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). The clearance has paved the way for the resumption of normal ferry operations.

All ferry operators are directed to resume services in line with their approved schedules, ensuring full compliance with existing safety and operational requirements. This move is expected to ease the commute for passengers who rely on the Ikorodu route.
The temporary diversion of services to Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty during the closure has been lifted, and normal operations will resume at the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal. LASWA appreciates the patience and cooperation of ferry operators and passengers during this period.
