The Lagos Bus Services Ltd. (LBSL) has condemned in the strongest terms a recent fuel siphoning incident involving two of its bus captains.
The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Idowu Oguntona, made the statement on Monday in Lagos.
It was signed by Mr Olawale Afolabi, Public Affairs Officer of the company.
Oguntona reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and public safety.

He said the incident, which occurred on March 10, was promptly reported to LBSL through a video recorded by a concerned citizen.
“The individuals involved were identified, apprehended, and handed over to security personnel for further investigation.
“Following due process, the suspects were arraigned before a Mobile Court on March 12 and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Facility pending further hearing on April 22,” he said.
The managing director expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, and strict enforcement of operational standards.
“We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and people of Lagos State,” he said.
Oguntona also appreciated the vigilance of the concerned citizen, emphasising the importance of public cooperation in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the system.
He reiterated the company’s zero-tolerance stance on gross misconduct, warning that any staff involved in theft, fraud, or other violations would face disciplinary measures and possible prosecution.
“The decisive action in this matter serves as a strong deterrent and reinforces the organisation’s unwavering commitment to ethical conduct,” he said.
