The Zonal Coordinator of Zone A, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), ACG Charles Orbih, has charged newly promoted Officers of the Apapa Area Command to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in their duties.
ACG Orbih made this call during a decoration ceremony held at the Command’s auditorium on Tuesday, where 14 former Deputy Controllers were elevated to the rank of Comptroller.
Addressing the officers, ACG Orbih highlighted that their new ranks symbolize their dedication to exceptional performance and unwavering commitment to the Service’s objectives.
He emphasized that their promotion comes with greater responsibilities, urging them to take on strategic roles to ensure the Apapa Command continues to set the pace in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security.
“As the Premier Port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security,” ACG Orbih stated, underscoring the pivotal role of the Command in driving Nigeria’s economic and security objectives.
Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller for Apapa Port, also congratulated the officers, praising their resilience and dedication to the goals of the Service.
He highlighted their contributions to the Command’s impressive achievement of generating ₦2.3 trillion in revenue for the Federal Government in 2024. Comptroller Olomu described the promotions as a call for even greater performance.
The ceremony marked the promotion of 14 Deputy Controllers to Comptrollers, 17 Assistant Controllers to Deputy Controllers, and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs to Assistant Controllers.
Plaques of recognition were also presented to distinguished officers for outstanding contributions, including Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Comptroller FM Muhammed, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, Comptroller Aisha Abdul, and Comptroller CV Eyapade.
The event was a historic moment for the Apapa Area Command, reinforcing its reputation as a critical hub in the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.
