The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS),Cross River/Calabar Free Trade Zone and Akwa Ibom Area Command, has begun moves to deepen collaboration with other security agencies in the state.
The move is aimed at improving intelligence sharing, tackling security threats and facilitating legitimate trade.
The Acting Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Dr Nkiruka Nwala, made the move during familiarisation visits to heads of sister agencies on Tuesday.
Dr Nwala visited the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, C. E. Okarazu, the Controller of Corrections, Aniekan Archibong Nya, and the State Director of the Department of State Services, Dr Faluyi Oluwole.
The visits were to formally introduce herself following her assumption of office and to strengthen the existing working relationship among the agencies.
During the engagements, the Customs boss harped on the need for open communication, joint operations and timely sharing of intelligence to address common security challenges.
She noted that no agency can work in isolation, adding that synergy among security agencies remains key to securing the state and promoting lawful trade.
The Command said the initiative is in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, anchored on Consolidation, Innovation and Collaboration.

It expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would enhance operational efficiency and contribute to national security and economic growth.
