The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi on Wednesday unveiled the Wale Adeniyi Sports Arena (WASA) at the Western Marine Command in Lagos.
The facility is part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at promoting youth engagement and community development.

In his speech, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the pivotal role of youth empowerment and community development in driving Nigeria’s growth.

Customs boss urged Officers to leverage the facility to maintain their physical and mental well-being, acknowledging the demanding nature of their duties.

The commissioning ceremony was marked by a display of sportsmanship, with CGC Adeniyi engaging in a table tennis match against a Navy Admiral, followed by a thrilling football match. These activities highlighted the unifying power of sports in fostering camaraderie and unity.

“The sports arena is poised to have a profound impact on the community, offering young people opportunities to hone their skills and talents.” It will serve as a hub for youth development, providing a range of activities and programs to foster unity and growth.”

CAC further explained facility is expected to become a beacon of hope for Nigerian youths, offering a brighter future and a chance to succeed. It will serve as a model for future initiatives, inspiring other organizations to invest in youth empowerment and community development.
