The African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly has formally  confirmed Hon. Olumekun Olubunmi Felix as an Ambassador of the African Union Agenda 2063 . This appointment marks a significant milestone in the continent’s pursuit of socio-economic transformation.

Hon. Olumekun’s confirmation is a testament to his exceptional leadership and contributions to Africa’s development. He has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the continent’s challenges and opportunities.

 

As President of the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN) and the Association of West African Exporters and Maritime Professionals (AWAEMAP), Hon. Olumekun has played a pivotal role in promoting regional commerce and maritime partnerships.

The confirmation ceremony was held in Abuja, Nigeria, on December 19, 2025, and was attended by prominent dignitaries from across the continent.

Amb. Amara Thecla Orakwe, Head of the Nomination and Screening Committee, chaired the event.

Hon. Olumekun’s expertise in maritime trade and economic development will be a valuable asset to the African Union Agenda 2063. His appointment is expected to strengthen the continent’s maritime sector and promote economic growth. As an AU Agenda 2063 Ambassador, Hon. Olumekun will represent Africa on regional and global platforms, advancing policies and initiatives aligned with the seven aspirations of Agenda 2063.

He will work closely with other continental leaders to mobilize resources and promote economic integration.

In his acceptance speech, Ambassador Olumekun expressed his commitment to advancing policies that position Africa’s maritime gateways as engines of continental integration and economic prosperity.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships in achieving the goals of Agenda 2063.

The African Union Commission has welcomed Ambassador Olumekun’s appointment, noting that his expertise and leadership will be critical in driving the implementation of Agenda 2063 and achieving the continent’s socio-economic transformation.
