The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reconstituted its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The inauguration ceremony took place at the NPA Corporate Headquarters, Marina, Lagos.
The Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has reiterated the Authority’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency. Represented by Engr. Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Dantsoho emphasized that the reconstituted ACTU would play a crucial role in promoting a culture of probity and diligence within the organization.
To ensure the success of the ACTU, the NPA has pledged to provide the necessary support and resources. This includes senior leadership, office accommodation, training, and adequate funding.

The Authority has also assured the ICPC that it would sponsor public enlightenment programmes to promote anti-corruption measures and transparency.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commended the NPA for its efforts to combat corruption.
The resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Chukuwra Alexender, represented by Chief Superintendent Mary Omonoyan, praised the NPA for involving public servants in the prevention and fight against corruption.
Alexender noted that the ACTU’s activities would contribute significantly to promoting integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct.
The reconstituted ACTU comprises nine members, including Leonard Onoja as Chairman, Mariam Yakubu, Falola Olufunlayo, Esther Akinfiro, Iroriteraye Joy, Abdurrahman Yakubu, Onwuemene Benedicta, Awoniyi Bukola, and Ipinlaye Ayodeji. The ICPC established the ACTU in 2004 as part of its mandate to prevent and prohibit corruption in the public service.
The reconstitution of the ACTU marks a new era of transparency and accountability in the NPA. With the support of the ICPC and the commitment of the NPA, the unit is poised to make a significant impact in promoting anti-corruption measures and transparency across the Authority and the broader port community.
