New Era for Customs: NAGAFF Recognizes Nigeria’s Customs CG as First Chairman of the WCO

By Sandra Chukwunyere

In a momentous occasion for Nigeria and the African continent, High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi, the National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), has extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO). This significant achievement marks the first time a Nigerian has assumed this prestigious role, setting a strategic precedent for the nation and the continent.

In a statement, Ezisi expressed pride in the election, describing it as an “unprecedented milestone” that reflects the exemplary service and foresight demonstrated by the new Chairman during his tenure as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CGC).

He highlighted the transformative changes initiated under the Chairman’s leadership, which have underscored a commitment to transparency, innovation, and collaboration—values that align closely with the WCO’s mission.
